HOPE NOW
of Elkhorn Wisconsin
Our Beginning
A group of concerned people from the Elkhorn community came together in 2002 – from area churches, the school system, county social services, service and civic groups – to discuss the needs of people in Elkhorn, and what critical requests were not being met by any existing group or agency.
HOPE NOW was incorporated 20 years ago in 2004 through the efforts of caring residents and local churches. Early on our local churches were the first stop for those in need of assistance. At that time community leaders gathered to find a way to assist those in need without duplication of assistance offered, hence the birth of HOPE NOW.
Today, the need is greater than ever. Our assistance has increased 25% this year over last year. In 2022, through the generosity of our Elkhorn community and civic groups, HOPE NOW assisted 153 households with financial aid which included $37,000 on rent/mortgages, $4,000 toward Security Deposits, $12,000 for utilities, $6,000 for auto repairs and $2,000 in medical and other miscellaneous expenses. This financial assistance has helped keep families in their homes. Workers are able to get to work, and our neighbors have become financially stable again.
Also HOPE NOW’s Community Advocate Program continues to be a success. This additional service has been made possible by a grant from the First United Methodist Church. Our advocate provides follow up phone calls to those who have been assisted by HOPE NOW to offer additional support and resources as needed. Thanks to your generosity, HOPE NOW was able to start a bike program a few years ago. This too has been a true success story helping men and women get to their jobs around town safely. We cannot forget to Thank you, our Elkhorn Community, for the help you provide yearly for our neighbors with our HOPE for the HOLIDAYS program. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, your special donations truly give individuals and families joy during the holidays.
Over the years HOPE NOW has often been a first call from Elkhorn residents who find themselves in need. HOPE NOW assists with rent, security deposits, utilities, necessary vehicle repairs, some medical needs, and more.
HOPE NOW is able to offer assistance to neighbors in need thanks to the support of churches, individuals, service and school groups, as well as businesses which provide fundraisers, food collections, volunteer hours, funding and gifts. These partners in hope are excited about what can be done by pooling resources to meet the needs of people in our community.
